To encourage women to read books, Osmangazi Municipality recently distributed free copies of the book “Pusula” written by author Meyra İlknur Mısır to women in the district as part of its project “Meeting with Women Writers.” The municipality organized a signing day and discussion program to bring the women of Osmangazi together with the author Mısır.

Osmangazi Municipality aims to facilitate women’s access to books with the “Meeting with Women Writers” project, connecting the women of Osmangazi with beautifully written books. In cooperation with local muhtars, the project distributes fluent and personal development books for free to women in designated neighborhoods. The second book distributed within the project, “Pusula” by Meyra İlknur Mısır, was delivered for free to women in neighborhoods located in the Demirtaş region last September. The municipality also organized a signing day and discussion event at the Demirtaş Culture Center, bringing together women who read the book and the author.

In the program prepared by the Cultural Affairs Directorate, author Meyra İlknur Mısır expressed her great happiness at having her own book distributed to women in such a meaningful project like “Meeting with Women Writers.” Mısır stated that she wrote the book “Pusula” to convey awareness, saying, “It is a book that describes transformation and how awareness affects a person. Every place where I talk about awareness is very valuable to me. Awareness helps a person recognize their own feelings and thoughts. Who am I? Why am I here? What should I be doing instead of what I am doing? Can I break free from society’s impositions? Can I be myself? We discuss the clues to these questions. The book actually conveys these ideas. Being aware means being conscious of one’s feelings and thoughts in the moment.”

At the end of the event, which saw a great interest from the women of Osmangazi, author Meyra İlknur Mısır signed her book for her fans.
