Palestine Polytechnic University 5th-year medical students, who came to Uşak University for hospital internships as part of the bilateral cooperation and Erasmus+ ICM KA171 Project agreements, visited Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş to bid farewell.
During the visit, Rector Savaş stated that Palestine is a brother country to Turkey and expressed happiness in hosting Palestinian students. Emphasizing the fraternal ties between Turkey and Palestine, Rector Savaş expressed that the cooperation with Palestine Polytechnic University will continue for many years and that support for the Palestinian people will persist.
This year, 30 Palestinian medical students completed their internships at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş indicated that a total of 30 Palestinian students completed their internships at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital this year as part of the cooperation between Uşak University and Palestine Polytechnic University, stating, “Our collaboration with Palestine Polytechnic University has been ongoing for 3 years. Palestinian medical students come to Uşak every year for their internships under this framework. This year, a total of 30 students completed their hospital internships through Uşak University in September and October.”
Palestinian medical students have been completing their internships at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital for 3 years. So far, a total of 49 students have completed their internships.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş emphasized that Uşak University values international bilateral cooperation, stating, “Thanks to the agreements we have made, these brilliant students who are receiving medical education have been coming to our university for internships for the past 3 years. Our students are interning in different departments at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital. In the first year, 9 students came and interned in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, and Department of Urology. Last year, the number of students increased to 10, and they interned in the Department of General Surgery, Department of Child Health and Diseases, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Department of Internal Medicine. This year, in September, 16 students came and completed their internships in the Department of Neurology and Department of Emergency Medicine. In October, 14 students who arrived completed their internships in the Department of Neurology, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Department of Urology. I congratulate them.”
The Palestinian students expressed their satisfaction during the farewell visit about being at Uşak University and in Turkey, stating that the internship period was unforgettable both as a professional experience and as a cultural experience. They thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, Uşak University Faculty of Medicine, the General Coordinator of International Relations, the entire Uşak University family, and the institutions and organizations in Uşak for the opportunities provided to them. The students stated, “The time we spent in Uşak not only increased our professional knowledge but also allowed us to feel Turkey’s hospitality and its closeness to Palestine. Experiencing this friendship and support here made us very happy.”
