This organization, which is one of the important events that Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar values in making Adana a sports city, featured participants from 8 countries this year and is known for being the longest race run in a canyon in the world. The races, which were held on an extraordinarily tough course, are significant for the development of athletes due to this feature.
The Varda Ultra Trail, which hosted a total of 820 athletes and is notable for being the only race that starts from a train station, began in the Belemedik area of Pozantı district and the Yerköprü area of Karaisalı district in Adana. The Varda Ultra Trail Race, which also includes the Çakıt Stream Valley and the Varda Bridge area, was held amidst the magnificent autumn landscapes of the region.
The race events started on Friday, November 8, with the distribution of athlete kits and a pasta party in front of Uğur Mumcu Square Station, and concluded with an award ceremony held at the same location on Sunday, November 10.
The races were held in the beautiful nature of the Toros Mountains of Adana in the categories of 27K, 67K, and 14K.
In the 27K Men’s category, the rankings were as follows: İbrahim Güneş, Aykut Kırsay, and Rıdvan Aykul, while in the Women’s 27K, the top three were Fatma Taş, Natalia Mamon, and Nurhan Cengiz. In the 67K Men’s category, the top three were Koray Het, Erman Denk, and Mustafa Dağdelen, while in the Women’s 67K, the top three were Özlem Doğan, Ümmü Nihal Tırpan, and Filiz Yeni.
In the 14K Men’s category, the top three were Mesut Akpınar, Arda Dölen, and Mehmet Osman Döner, and in the 14K Women’s category, the top three were Songül Berikol, Anna Kırdan, and Elizaveta Igoshina.
A photography exhibition featuring photos taken during the visits of the Founder of the Republic of Turkey, Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to Adana was presented to the citizens at Uğur Mumca Square Station.
