The Horse Festival, which will be held for the first time this year in the Ürgüp district of Nevşehir between November 15-17, will bring together hundreds of horses and horse lovers.
Together with participants coming from all over Turkey and the world, the event will feature horseback safari tours, endurance races, an equestrian museum, and exhibitions of works by renowned painters, along with panels and participation from the Turkey Jockey Club Pony Club, marking a first in the world of equestrianism. Additionally, the presence of notable figures recognized for their literary and cultural contributions to horses, such as Prof. Dr. Donna Landry and Prof. Dr. Gerald Maclean, will add a different dimension to the event. Panels aimed at educating horse enthusiasts will include topics like the ‘Evliya Çelebi Route’ and ‘The History and Development of Turkish Horses,’ discussing the heritage of English horses being descended from Turkish horses. The festival will also host renowned equestrian personalities such as Yassine Cavalier and Elena Kvasova, who are recognized worldwide, along with important local and foreign figures. Supported by the Ürgüp Municipality, the festival aims to promote the region’s cultural richness and provide unforgettable moments amidst the unique beauties of Cappadocia. With various competitions, shows, and activities organized for children throughout the festival, visitors of all ages, both local and foreign, will enjoy the festivities.
Ürgüp Mayor Ali Ertuğrul Bul stated, ‘Ürgüp is a city that stands out not only with its historical and natural beauties but also with its rich cultural heritage. Equestrianism is an important part of this heritage. With the first Ürgüp Horse Festival, we want to both preserve this cultural heritage and further enrich our city in terms of tourism. Our festival will include horse races, shows, international panels, and many more events. We invite all horse lovers and nature enthusiasts to Ürgüp.’
