Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer stated, “In the central areas (Urban) of our 11 districts in Kahramanmaraş, the total number of houses to be built by TOKİ is 32,907, and the number of commercial independent units is 1,167. Approximately 46,000 of our houses are under construction.” After the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, the construction of earthquake houses, village houses, and workplaces continues in the province and districts. Evaluating the latest information regarding ongoing works across the province, Governor Ünlüer said, “In the central areas (Urban) of our 11 districts in Kahramanmaraş, the total number of houses to be built by TOKİ is 32,907, and the number of commercial independent units is 1,167. The total number of houses drawn in the lottery is 19,800, and as of 05.11.2024, the number of houses delivered as turnkey is 10,646. The number of houses planned to be ready for delivery by the end of the year is 23,202. Approximately 46,000 of our houses are under construction.” Noting that steel houses are also being constructed alongside village houses, Ünlüer stated that 1,702 transformation permits have also been granted. Governor Ünlüer further stated, “In the rural areas of our 11 districts in Kahramanmaraş, the total number of reinforced concrete and light steel houses planned by our Ministry’s General Directorate of Construction Works is 12,962. The total number of houses drawn in the lottery is 4,099, and as of 05.11.2024, the number of houses delivered as turnkey is 763. The number of houses planned to be ready for delivery by the end of the year is 9,193. The number of independent units for which construction permits have been granted under on-site transformation in the rural area (grant + loan) is 2,950. The number of independent units for which construction permits have been granted under on-site transformation in the urban area (grant + loan) is 1,702.” Ünlüer pointed out that demolitions of severely damaged buildings are ongoing and that this rate is at about 97%. He stated, “As a result of the earthquakes on February 6, a total of 53,945 buildings were damaged in Kahramanmaraş, including 7,491 ‘Collapsed’, 4,434 ‘Urgently to be Demolished’ buildings, 6,048 ‘Moderately Damaged’ buildings, and 35,972 ‘Severely Damaged’ buildings. We have completed the debris removal operations for our collapsed and urgently to be demolished buildings, and we are continuing the demolition and debris removal works for severely damaged buildings quickly. As a result, we have completed the debris removal for the ‘Collapsed Building + Urgently to be Demolished’ buildings in the first phase, and we have completed debris removal for a total of 97.20% of the ‘Severely Damaged (35,972)’ buildings.” Speaking about the container cities, Governor Ünlüer said, “Currently, we have 43 container cities actively operating. There are a total of 19,876 containers in these container cities, and 55,516 citizens are living here.”
