Elvis Antonio Alam Lora, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Ankara, visited the General Headquarters of the Confederation of Industry and Commerce (SANKON) to enhance economic and trade relations between Turkey and the Dominican Republic. The Ambassador highlighted the deep cultural and political ties between the two countries and expressed his desire to further strengthen the relations of the Dominican Republic with Turkey.
During the visit, Ambassador Lora emphasized Turkey’s economic potential and invited Turkish companies to invest in the Dominican Republic, while also noting that Dominican companies are interested in investing in Turkey. The Ambassador stated that they are ready to collaborate with SANKON to develop economic and trade partnerships.
Ferudun Cevahiroğlu, the President of SANKON, expressed his pleasure regarding Ambassador Elvis Antonio Alam Lora’s visit, saying, “As Turkish companies, we attach great importance to the economic and trade relations between the two states and are ready to work in cooperation with the Dominican Republic’s Embassy in Ankara to strengthen these relations further.” Cevahiroğlu mentioned plans to organize a Turkey-Dominican Business Forum soon and to conduct a visit to the Dominican Republic with a wide participation from the Turkish business community.
An important step was also taken in the field of health tourism during the meeting. Prof. Dr. Aysun Bay, the President of the Ankara Health Tourism Federation, emphasized the need to increase cooperation opportunities in health tourism between the two countries. Prof. Dr. Bay stated, “Turkey is ready to provide high-standard health services to health tourists coming from the Dominican Republic. Health tourism can significantly contribute to strengthening economic relations between the two countries.”
Representatives from many federations that are members of SANKON also participated in the meeting. Authorities from the Ankara Health Tourism Federation, Turkey Agriculture and Rural Development Federation, Ankara Finance and Investment Projects Federation, Ankara Defense Industry Federation, Ankara Real Estate and Property Federation, Ankara Energy and Mining Federation, Ankara Economy and Development Federation, Ankara Foreign Trade Federation, and Ankara Import and Export Federation were present.
This visit emphasized that concrete steps would be taken to enhance economic relations between the two countries and to mutually promote investments, further strengthening collaborations.
