Two structures identified as illegal were demolished by Seyhan Municipality teams in the Yeni Mahalle. Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin stated that they are determined to prevent illegal construction, saying, “The demolition decision was made not only out of legal obligation but also to ensure the safety, health, and sense of justice for every citizen living in Seyhan.”

Seyhan Municipality continues its efforts to combat illegal construction. In this context, the demolition of two unlicensed structures determined in Yeni Mahalle was carried out smoothly by the Seyhan Municipality Building Control Directorate teams under the supervision of security forces and local police.

Mayor Tekin stated that the demolition was conducted in accordance with the decision taken by the municipal council, emphasizing, “There can be no tolerance for illegal construction. The demolition decision was made not only from legal obligations but also to protect the safety, health, and sense of justice of every citizen living in Seyhan. Unlicensed construction also hinders the equal and fair use of resources in the city. Despite the costs borne by our citizens and entrepreneurs who build within the legal framework, unlicensed structures create an unfair situation by avoiding these obligations. Preventing this inequality and injustice is also our fundamental duty. As a municipality, we believe that individual rights and freedoms should be balanced with public safety and common good. Of course, we stand by every Seyhan resident who seeks shelter to have a roof over their heads. However, we cannot evaluate this building, constructed unlicensed and without any structural oversight, in this context for individual gain or commercial purposes,” she said.

Mayor Tekin continued her speech: “While stating that we will continue our efforts to make our city a safer, more livable, and fairer place, the demolition processes will be carried out with a respectful approach to human dignity, and we will have our units ready to provide social support for citizens in need. I invite all our entrepreneurs to act in accordance with the laws for the prevention of unlicensed construction, to achieve a safe and sustainable structure for our city, to ensure our people’s safety, and for the development of our city.”
