SAMSON (IHA) – The construction of artistic structures to protect Samsun from floods and inundations is ongoing.

In Samsun, which faces the risk of flooding due to sudden and heavy rainfall in every season, flood control structures are being continued. Within this scope, as part of the Samsun Central Mert River rehabilitation project, which has a cost of 3.1 billion TL, 554 unreinforced and 549 reinforced pile foundations have been completed on the right bank. On the left bank, 137 unreinforced and 127 reinforced piles have been constructed. The construction of the project, which is more than 20% complete, is ongoing.

As part of the Terme Stream Rehabilitation Phase 1 project, which has a cost of 633 million TL, 353 meters of concrete lining have been constructed on the right bank and 120 meters on the left bank, and construction of a steel pedestrian bridge has begun. The project, which is over 50% complete, is continuing.

The total cost of the Terme District Center Flood Relocation Köybucağı Storage Facility Supplement Phase 2 project is 347 million TL. Within the scope of this project, 400 meters of stone fortification has been constructed on the right bank and 500 meters on the left bank of the Terme Stream. The overall physical completion rate of the project has exceeded 62%.

The total cost of the Havza Central Tersakan River Basin Phase 3 project is 130 million TL. Within the scope of this project, 400 meters of foundation excavation and foundational stone filling and concrete works on both banks have been completed, and the construction of the project, which is 30% complete, is ongoing.

The total cost of the Vezirköprü Oruç Neighborhood Uluçay Stream Basin Flood and Erosion Control project is 20 million TL. Within the scope of this project, 2000 meters of stacked stone fortification and 2000 meters of reinforced concrete headwall have been constructed. Construction, which is 85% complete, is ongoing.

The total cost of the Ladik District Center Protection from Ladik Stream Floods Phase 3 project is 20 million TL. Within this project, masonry wall constructions and one culvert, as well as one pedestrian bridge, have been completed. The physical completion rate of the project, where concrete lining works have started, has approached 60%.

The total cost of the Vezirköprü Susuz Stream Basin Phase 2 project is 20 million TL. Nearly 70% of the project has been completed.

Bridge and culvert constructions

The total cost of the bridge and culvert construction works across the province is 838 million TL. Within this scope, there are 23 prefabricated beam and 2 steel beam vehicle bridges, as well as river rehabilitation and fortification works at the entrances and exits of the bridges in Samsun and its districts. The temporary acceptances of the Çarşamba Otluk, Tekkeköy Balcalı, and İlkadım Örnek Sanayi Akkiraz Bridges have been completed. The construction of the İlkadım Toybelen bridge has been completed. The beams of the Vezirköprü Çakırtaş 2 bridge have been installed. The foot construction of the Havza Tersakan bridge has been completed, and the works are ongoing with 45% of the construction completed.

In addition to the ongoing flood protection investments, the construction of the Terme Karagöl Stream Rehabilitation Phase 2 project, which costs 122 million TL, the Vezirköprü Kürtler Stream Upper Basin Slope Rehabilitation Phase 2 project costing 156 million TL, the Havza Kirazönü Stream Basin Project costing 41 million TL, the Bafra Darboğaz Stream Phase 2 project costing 26 million TL, and the Samsun New OSB channel drainage project costing 24 million TL will also begin shortly.
