The ‘Digital Classroom’ project, aimed at students preparing for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) and initiated under the leadership of Manavgat Mayor Dr. Niyazi Nefi Kara, was announced at a promotional meeting held at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The promotion detailed the contents offered by the Digital Classroom and the objectives to be achieved.
During the meeting, educational kits were gifted to students who applied through the Social Assistance Department of Manavgat Municipality and were deemed eligible. The Manavgat Municipality Digital Classroom aims to provide all educational materials that YKS students will need during the exam process for free via the internet. The content available on the digital platform includes subject explanations, solution methods to questions, previously asked and potential questions, motivational speeches, exam strategies, and many other supporting resources. Students will be able to access this rich content whenever and wherever they wish. This new project of the Manavgat Municipality aims to increase equality of opportunity in education in the district and help young people step into a brighter future.
For equality of opportunity in education and a strong future
In his speech at the meeting, Mayor Dr. Niyazi Nefi Kara emphasized his determination regarding education once again. Mayor Kara stated, “The issue I care about the most is education. If we have come this far, the most important reason is education. I thank everyone who raised us and worked for us,” clearly expressing the importance of education in his life. By recalling the first verse that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, which is ‘iqra’ (read), he highlighted the power of accessing and utilizing knowledge. “Knowledge is power. Our strength is to work, work, work. The more we read, the more knowledgeable we become; the more knowledgeable we become, the stronger we are,” he suggested reading to the youth and all citizens.
One of the decisive steps taken by Manavgat Municipality regarding education was to increase the number of teachers in the municipal council. Mayor Kara stated that this step was taken consciously, saying, “Perhaps we are in an era that has the most teacher council members in the history of Manavgat Municipality. We made this list consciously. None of them applied for council membership; we offered them the position because we know they are beloved teachers of Manavgat. There was a need for educators who work day and night, striving for the children of Manavgat to read more and achieve better places.”
Mayor Kara stated that Manavgat Municipality would provide unlimited support for education, saying, “Every time I see our children, my hopes for the future flourish. I want to work harder. Our job is to pave the way for young people and guide them. They already find the right path.”
Kara repeatedly expresses his support for the education of young people in Manavgat and emphasized that all possible resources would be mobilized if necessary for children to receive a good education.
The meeting was attended by Manavgat Mayor Dr. Niyazi Nefi Kara, deputy mayors, press members, students, and their families.
