Deputy Akay requested support for the city’s problems.

CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay spoke during the discussions of the 2025 budget proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission.

Akay, who listed the incomplete irrigation and stream improvement projects of Karabük’s districts and requested investment from Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, also called for support to encourage the cultivation of saffron flowers in more areas.

By conveying the incomplete irrigation projects in the Central, Safranbolu, Yenice, Eflani, Eskipazar, and Ovacık districts to Minister Yumaklı and requesting funding, Akay stated, “There are projects like Eskipazar Adiller Pond, Central Düzçam Pond, Safranbolu Yazıköy Pond, and Safranbolu Ovacuma Pond. Bids have been made, projects have started, but only 2 lira and 1 lira have been allocated for 2024. You have spent 34 million on the Safranbolu Ovacuma Pond project, but you have not allocated any budget for 2024. The investments made are also going to waste.”

Listing the stream improvement projects that have stalled due to insufficient funding to Minister Yumaklı, CHP’s Akay stated, “There are significant problems regarding stream improvement works. Works have stopped in stream improvement areas such as Karabük Eskipazar Pond, Beşpınar Village Stream, Karaören Village, Soğanlı Creek, and Acıöz Village. There are no expenses at all. Our region is one that has problems related to flooding. Especially the Yenice Ibrıcak and Yeniköy stream improvement works have been left unfinished, saying ‘There is no budget.’ This situation will bring disaster to our Yenice in the slightest rainfall. The same applies to Navsaklar, Geren, Bostanbükü, and Ovacuma Village. I kindly ask you to resolve these issues as well.”
