Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) President Seyit Ardıç stated, “In order to adapt quickly to changes, one of the most important elements of development, human capital, needs to be equipped with an understanding suitable for the requirements of the age.”
ASO Paper Products and Printing Industry Professional Committee, in cooperation with the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Publishing Industry Professional Committee and the Printing Industry Education Foundation (BASEV), organized the “Anatolian Printing Houses Training” within the framework of “BASEV Vocational Technical Trainings.” After the reading of the National Anthem and a moment of silence, ASO President Ardıç delivered the opening speech of the program. Noting that we are going through a period of structural transformation and rapid changes in the world economy, and that investment processes, production technologies, and the trade environment are changing, Ardıç stated, “In order to adapt quickly to these changes, human capital, which is one of the most important elements of development, needs to be equipped with an understanding suitable for the requirements of the age. The importance of vocational knowledge is increasing day by day in order to meet the demands and needs of the labor market and to create competitive advantage. We must not forget the fact that a workforce equipped with knowledge, skills, and competencies in vocational and technical education is the fundamental driving force of economic development.”
Pointing out that the “Global Economic Outlook Survey” was published at the World Chambers Federation Europe and Asia Summit held in Istanbul last month, Ardıç stated that in this report, the most important issues for the global business community and enterprises were highlighted as the lack of qualified labor and inflation, and that this situation has become a problem not only for Turkey but for the entire world. Expressing that Turkey must increase the quality of education to effectively use human resources and enhance competitiveness, Ardıç emphasized that vocational education should be planned by taking into account both the needs of the economy and the changes in global competition and technology.
“If we want to produce value-added products, we must ensure qualified labor.”
BASEV Board Chairman Murat Demir stated that they have brought a new mission to BASEV, saying, “We want the foundation to be not just Istanbul’s foundation, but the foundation of the entire sector. Ankara is very important for us. We started our expansion with Ankara, but if we come together with provinces like Izmir, Gaziantep, and Konya as the printing sector, our representation power will increase significantly. When we look at it, our problems are common, and one of our biggest problems is qualified labor. If we want to produce value-added products, we must ensure qualified labor.” ASO 08 Paper Products and Printing Industry Professional Committee Chair Beste Rodoslu also stated that they visited two high schools in Ankara together with BASEV, saying, “We discussed what can be done not only for the sectoral development of the students but also for their personal development. Because we all know that today’s students will be tomorrow’s parents and voters. Therefore, their personal development is very important. That’s why we should have projects to engage with them in society, such as exhibitions, museums, and going to theaters.”
