Dr. Orhan Karaoğlu, an International Relations Expert at the Presidency, detailed significant events occurring in the Middle East and Turkey’s foreign policy during the conference titled “What is Happening in the Middle East?” held at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ).
In addition to social and cultural activities, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) continues to organize informative conferences for the community. In the conference titled “What is Happening in the Middle East,” Dr. Orhan Karaoğlu, an International Relations Expert, explained the geographical region of the Middle East, which has experienced wars and significant events throughout history, and Turkey’s foreign policy. The event, held at the Atatürk Conference Hall of ALKÜ Faculty of Education, was attended by Alanya Deputy Mayor Abdullah Akbaş, ALKÜ Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akın, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç, Alanya District Police Chief Murat Kenan Patat, Alanya Youth and Sports District Director Emre Kıldırgıcı, Alanya Foreigners Assembly President Abdullah Karaoğlu, ALKÜ Secretary General Onur Ocaktan, deans, vocational school directors, academics, students, and citizens.
After the welcoming speech, Dr. Orhan Karaoğlu explained the Middle East on a map. He emphasized that many relationships in the region are built upon geopolitical positions of the countries. Dr. Karaoğlu stated that Europe and the USA closely monitor the Middle East and elaborated on why the Jews established a state in Palestine. He pointed out that the issues experienced by Jews during the times of civilizations such as the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Egyptians in Middle Eastern history continue to this day. Dr. Karaoğlu remarked, “The problems faced in history are the starting point of the Israel-Iran-Palestine tension. To understand these well, we need to know history well. Because all the features that changed the world, from agriculture to writing, emerged in the Middle East. The Jews claim they were born here and want to establish a country in the region known as Canaan, around Palestine-Jerusalem, after World War II. They achieve this with the support of Europe and the USA.”
Continuing his speech, Dr. Karaoğlu discussed Turkey’s foreign policy throughout history, addressing its relations with countries such as Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Iran, which hold significant geopolitical positions in the Middle East. After the conference, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç presented a certificate of appreciation and a gift to Dr. Karaoğlu. The program concluded with a commemorative photo session.
