The Üsküdar Municipality has launched its first urban transformation project in the Acıbadem District, aimed at making risky buildings earthquake-resistant and constructing safe housing.
With the slogan “Üsküdar is Renewing, Our Future is Strengthening,” the project has officially begun with the signing of the first contracts. The urban transformation project is being implemented in cooperation with the Üsküdar Municipality and KİPTAŞ. The Baltepe Apartment located in the Acıbadem District will be demolished and rebuilt as part of this urban transformation project. Property owners attended the signing ceremony, which was held in the presence of a notary, with the participation of Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş.
“Since the day we arrived, we have undertaken many infrastructure works”
At the ceremony, Mayor Sinem Dedetaş stated, “One of the most important issues we have always discussed for Üsküdar was to accelerate the urban transformation process and make our buildings earthquake-resistant. Today, we are taking the first step in that direction. In fact, throughout this process, we have carried out many infrastructure works since the day we took office. During the campaign, we mentioned that we would work on ensuring that the municipality takes its real role as a guarantor in the transformation process. We have taken various steps in this regard, and we established a platform that constitutes the Üsküdar leg of ‘Üsküdar is Renewing, Istanbul is Renewing.'”
Applications can be made online
With the “Üsküdar is Renewing” online platform developed under the leadership of the Üsküdar Municipality’s subsidiary company KENTAŞ, it is aimed to conduct transformation works from individual buildings to different scales at the neighborhood level. The platform allows citizens to submit applications online for both the renewal and strengthening of risky buildings.
