The Medicana Turkish Music Choir, consisting of physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers from Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital, received rave reviews from the audience for their concert titled “Songs Loved by Atatürk and the Voices of the Republic.”

The concert took place at the İBB Cem Karaca Cultural Center. Music lovers showed great interest in the event. In his opening speech, Dr. Cem Murat Bozok, General Manager of Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital, stated, “Our choir members diligently conducted choir rehearsals after their intense shifts. I would like to thank our conductor Müge Hale Çetintürk, Choir President Dr. Şebnem Altınlı, Dr. Cem Başaran, and all other choir members for their efforts in making this concert possible. We dedicate this concert to you, our esteemed guests, and I wish you a pleasant time.”

Then, the large 22-member ensemble presented a musical feast.

“The Republic is the unending song of our unending love”

Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Cem Başaran, Chief Physician of Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital and the host of the concert, emphasized that music heals not only the body but also the soul, saying, “For a while, we thought we should do something with our colleagues working in the hospital. We wanted to organize this event right between October 29 and November 10. We decided to form a choir with our doctors, professors, nurses, midwives, and support staff working at the hospital. We prepared intensively for this concert together after long working hours for months.”

Başaran added, “We started with an amateur spirit. Our goal was to show that we can achieve things together, that we can be a power when we are together, and to commemorate our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Everyone needs to take ownership of the Republic. This is our fundamental element, and we need to do this starting from our children. We should not forget the saying of our ancestors, ‘a tree is bent while it is young.’ We need to explain very well the importance of the Republic, what it has brought us, what its purpose is, and what it serves. We must work with all our might to protect and sustain the Republic until the end. If we uphold the Republic, our country and all our citizens will stand strong as well.”

“We held our first concert worthy of the 101st year of the Republic”

The choir conductor Müge Hale Çetintürk stated that they began preparations in May, saying, “Throughout the summer, we continued our choir rehearsals with the doctors, nurses, and administrative staff of the hospital. We held our first concert worthy of the 101st year of the Republic. We wanted to sing the songs loved by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It was their first experience. We all believed in each other with love, excitement, and effort. First and foremost, if I can be here in front of you, it is the work of the Republic. I am a woman of the Republic, and I will continue to be on this path. The Republic is our only principle. We will follow in the footsteps of our ancestor. I am trying to bring this to the best places in my field, with music. Because our ancestor was also very interested in music. He loved Turkish music and even sang it.”

After the concert, Reha Özkaya, CEO of Medicana Health Group, presented flowers to choir conductor Müge Hale Çetintürk, choir president Uzm. Dr. Şebnem Altınlı, and choir host Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Cem Başaran, expressing his gratitude to the entire team for their performances.
