Governor Çelik: “Reading habit is a way of life”

Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik stated that reading and learning is the fundamental principle of our faith, saying, “Reading habit is a way of life. The more you read, the more you exist.”

Governor Ali Çelik, along with Provincial Director of National Education Nurettin Yılmaz, visited the newly renovated 23 April Primary and Secondary School, which completed its renovation work during the summer vacation, and met with teachers and students. First, he examined the school’s external surroundings and the newly constructed fire escape, then visited the 5th-grade students in their classrooms, where he received information about the functioning of the Turkey Century Education Model. Subsequently, he met with 8th-grade students; Governor Çelik offered suggestions regarding their future goals and emphasized that they need to work hard to become useful children to their homeland, nation, and families, and to become good people.

Expressing his pleasure in being together with the students, Governor Çelik said, “All sacrifices, efforts, and investments made in the field of education are for you. As you succeed, we will look confidently towards our future, happy and peaceful. I believe that you will be in very important places in the future; however, all these are secondary matters. The most valuable thing of all is to be a good person. No personal interest is more valuable than being honest and upright, respecting and upholding justice and rights.”

Governor Çelik urged students to focus on beautiful and good things and to engage with positive subjects, stating, “Rather than memorizing, make understanding and comprehending your principle, then you will learn better. If you do not know where you are going, the road you take does not matter, so set a goal and focus on it. If you focus on something, you become an expert in that field. You are the most valuable beings in the world, and you should nurture yourselves in the best way. Reading and learning are the fundamental principles of our faith. The reading habit is a way of life. The more you read, the more you exist. The most important way to reach the source of knowledge is through books. We will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure that you, our children, who are our common value, receive education in a peaceful and healthy environment, so that we can build our future. We have complete trust in you,” he stated.

Governor Ali Çelik also met with teachers, stating that the main purpose of the Turkey Century Education Model is to raise individuals equipped with the skills of the age and the future, who can use this equipment for the benefit of humanity, passionate about science, curious about culture, sensitive, and morally qualified. Çelik said, “Our goal should be to build a generation that, in the light of our new education model, is stable with one foot in cultural and spiritual values while being able to travel the world with the other foot, as expressed in the example of the compass by Mevlâna Celaleddin Rumi. In this context, we must ensure that our students learn by doing and experiencing, making science and ethics permanent in the same pot. I am leaving this school with a beautiful energy; I am very happy, the students are open-minded, and I have become hopeful for the future. I would like to thank the families who raise them, the school management, and you teachers for the values you have instilled in our children with your scholarly breath.”
