A historical building located in the Kemalpaşa neighborhood of Söke, which is steeped in history, is preparing to come back to life with restoration efforts.
Previously, under the leadership of Mayor Arıkan, the Söke Municipality has brought historical structures such as the Dalgıç Mansion, Dr. Baki Ökdem House, the Book House, and the Efes Cinema into service for the residents of Söke. The municipality aims to restore another historical house located on Alay Street and contribute it to the district. Once the restoration work is completed, this structure will open its doors as a restaurant serving the people of Söke.
With the permission obtained from the Aydın Governorship, the Söke Municipality Restoration Team has started the renovation works on the historical structure, which was previously used as a restoration workshop. Söke Mayor Dr. Mustafa İberya Arıkan inspected the project on-site and received information from project consultant Mine Şavkay and the Director of Planning Affairs Yüksel Ertercan. This magnificent building, which has a garden of one acre and witnessed the population exchange period, will be meticulously restored as one of Söke’s symbolic structures.
Söke Mayor Dr. Mustafa İberya Arıkan stated, “Our intention is to turn this place into a restaurant that suits our neighborhood and is compatible with its texture. We aim to provide a venue where Söke residents can enjoy quality service without having to go to the Island, as soon as possible. The Kemalpaşa neighborhood is very important for Söke. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Söke. It is a beautiful neighborhood with its culture, texture, and people. In this way, we will activate and revitalize this area.”
With this new project of the Söke Municipality, the Kemalpaşa neighborhood will take another step towards becoming an attraction center for both the people of Söke and visitors.
