The thermal spring in Çermik district is approximately 90 kilometers from the city center and attracts significant interest from nearby provinces such as Elazığ, Gaziantep, Malatya, Adıyaman, Siirt, Batman, and Mardin. Yunus Yıldız, the owner of the thermal hotel that opened in 2016, stated that the mineral content of the waters is equivalent to that of the thermal springs in Italy, saying, “One Italy, two Turkeys. We established a facility here because ours is richer in minerals. The properties of the water have been analyzed by the Health Ministry’s Scientific Board and are beneficial for inflammatory rheumatism, chronic back pain, joint pain, skin diseases, psoriasis, and women’s diseases. We have family pools for both men and women. We have two thermal pools. We have two semi-Olympic freshwater pools. We also have a salt room, mud bath, massage room, sauna, and fitness center. It is completely referred to as a physical therapy hospital.”
Şehmus Yıldız, one of the partners of the facility, mentioned that there are a total of 82 rooms, including 2 family suites, 2 normal suites, and the rest being standard, designed according to the number of occupants.
Yıldız stated that they have the largest spa area in the Southeast, saying: “Within it, we have our freshwater pools, thermal water pools, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, salt and steam room. Because the sulfur content of the water is high, it is preferred more by our guests. Diyarbakır is a very important point in terms of faith tourism. It also has one of the world’s most valuable minerals, especially from Italy, in the health sector.”
A customer, Arzu Solmaz, noted that they came to the thermal spring from Diyarbakır and were very pleased. Solmaz stated, “It is very clean, we were very satisfied. We came once again; this is our second visit. The first time I came with my husband and kids. This time I came with my mother and siblings. It is very beneficial for health; we have seen its benefits. I have been sleeping more comfortably for a week. That is why we came a second time.”
