A sweet maker from Adana has started to sell a new interpretation of Dubai chocolate, which contains the ‘Cennet Çamuru’ (Heavenly Mud) certified with a geographical indication by Kilis, as Adana Chocolate. The sweet maker stated, “Instead of marketing our products abroad, let’s take ownership of these products.”

Dubai chocolate, which gained popularity through social media shares, has become one of the most consumed products in recent times. Especially, Dubai chocolate has quickly gained popularity with both its taste and its impressive packaging, attracting significant attention on social media.

Made Adana chocolate

However, the popular product contains the ‘Cennet Çamuru,’ which is certified with a geographical indication by Kilis. Zeynep Geyik, the sweet maker from Adana, reinterpreted the chocolate known as Dubai chocolate and created Adana Chocolate. Additionally, Geyik added Adana Bombası (Adana Bomb) made with Cennet Çamuru to her menu.

The flavors that quickly became popular among social media users and customers have been appreciated as a “local and national” taste.

“There is high demand”

Speaking to İhlas News Agency, Zeynep Geyik said, “Dubai chocolate has gained a reputation as very Dubai. We started making it upon requests, but the product inside this chocolate is the ‘Cennet Çamuru’ certified with a geographical indication from Kilis. We are selling this product as Adana Chocolate. Currently, there is high demand. Our guests are enjoying it.”

“Let’s take ownership of our products”

Geyik emphasized that everyone should take ownership of local products, saying, “We also tested the filling in the Adana Bomb. Pistachios are ours, sugar is ours, kadayıf (a type of pastry) is ours. Instead of marketing our products abroad, let’s take ownership of these products in our own country.”

“What belongs to us is ours”

Halef Noyan, who came to try the dessert, said, “Let’s not call this Dubai chocolate. They are trying to make us eat our certified product, Cennet Çamuru. What belongs to us is ours. The sweet maker from Adana has taken ownership of this. Cennet Çamuru is a beautiful product that everyone can consume. The chocolate and Adana Bombası have also turned out great.”

“I don’t know why it is called Dubai chocolate”

A citizen named Oğuz Gülnaz said, “I saw it on social media and came to try it. It is a very nice product. Cennet Çamuru is our certified product. I don’t know why it is called Dubai chocolate. The name Adana Chocolate suits it very well. Such products need to be taken ownership of.”
