The foundation of a sports hall with a capacity of 375 spectators has been laid in Niğde.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Niğde Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, to be constructed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was held.

The ceremony was attended by Niğde Governor Cahit Çelik, AK Party Niğde Member of Parliament Cevahir Uzkurt, MHP Niğde Member of Parliament Cumali İnce, Niğde Mayor Emrah Özdemir, Youth and Sports Provincial Director İlker Ötgünlü, as well as representatives from political parties and personnel from the Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate. Governor Cahit Çelik stated that the Niğde Multi-Purpose Sports Complex had gone to tender several times before but had not been completed due to various difficulties. He expressed that, following discussions, funding has been allocated for sports investments despite the austerity measures. Governor Çelik said, “In our discussions with the Ministry of Sports, we have not only secured this project but also investments for a synthetic turf field to be built in Altunhisar District and for the Bucakçayır Sports Facilities. This is the first time in Niğde that such investments have been made within a year concerning sports facilities. As long as we remain united, we do not return from Ankara empty-handed.”

“We will turn Aladağlar into the center of mountaineering”
Governor Çelik mentioned that a project regarding the Mountaineering Federation Facilities located in Aladağlar National Park will be implemented within the year 2025. He noted that the project, planned on an area of 802 acres, aims to make Aladağlar a center for mountaineering. AK Party Niğde Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Cevahir Uzkurt said in his speech, “As the People’s Alliance, we are trying to carry the trust given by the citizens and serve our people. The Multi-Purpose Sports Complex has been a project on the agenda for years but could not be accomplished due to various reasons. Thanks to the efforts we have shown together, we have managed to bring this project to our province.”

MHP Niğde Member of Parliament Cumali İnce stated that the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex is a service that was missing for Niğde and that this investment addresses that deficiency. He thanked those who contributed to the realization of the project. Niğde Mayor Emrah Özdemir expressed his happiness during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for bringing such a significant investment to the city. After the speeches, protocol members pressed the button to initiate the groundbreaking process.

The sports complex will include a sports hall with a capacity of 375 spectators, one seminar room, a parking lot for 27 vehicles, two training halls, one meeting room, one basketball court, and 34 offices.
