The “Clean Neighborhood Clean Selçuklu” events are ongoing.

The central Selçuklu District Municipality of Konya continues its efforts for environmental awareness without interruption. This week’s environmental event, held under the slogan “Clean Neighborhood, Clean Selçuklu,” took place in the Akademi Neighborhood, with different neighborhoods being targeted each week.

Selçuklu Municipality is continuing its exemplary zero waste efforts to raise awareness of zero waste in society and to leave a healthier environment for future generations. Environmental volunteers, under the slogan “We Are Taking Steps for Nature” organized by the Selçuklu Municipality’s Environmental and Zero Waste Platform, conducted a cleaning event in the Akademi Neighborhood as part of the “Clean Neighborhood, Clean Selçuklu” concept. Students from the Great Selçuklu Male Student Dormitory and local volunteers also supported the event. The Selçuklu Municipality, which collaborates with both environmental volunteers and various institutions on environmental issues, will continue similar activities in the district under the slogan “Step for Nature.” Through these events coordinated by the Selçuklu Municipality’s Climate Change and Zero Waste Department, it is aimed to increase environmental sensitivity and foster this awareness among citizens of all ages.

Emphasizing that one of the biggest priorities of Selçuklu Municipality is the environment, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı stated, “We always strive to be a pioneer in this regard. We are doing pioneering work. In this context, establishing the Zero Waste Department as one of the leading examples of zero waste application in our country, creating the environmental council, and conducting the zero waste platform with the participation of all layers of society were significant. We will continue to develop and implement good practice examples related to waste bins, composting, educational activities at homes, educational activities in schools, and recycling within the framework of zero waste applications. We always care about the environment. We know there are significant tasks we need to undertake regarding climate change. Inshallah, in the upcoming process, we will continue these efforts as strongly as possible as Selçuklu Municipality. Our environmental cleaning event, which is one of our exemplary practices under the slogan ‘Clean Neighborhood, Clean Selçuklu,’ highlights environmental awareness in different neighborhoods every week.
