The 1st Children’s Theatre Days are starting in Şehitkamil.

The 1st Children’s Theatre Days organized by the Şehitkamil Municipality is starting. In the five-day event, children will experience unforgettable moments with the children’s plays Peter Pan, Tebeşir Ağacı (Chalk Tree), and Şifreli Köpek (Encrypted Dog) at the State Theatre Şehitkamil Stage.

Another project aimed at children has been added to the initiatives started by Şehitkamil Mayor Umut Yılmaz. With the 1st Children’s Theatre Days, which Yılmaz initiated to enhance creativity and self-confidence in children and to introduce them to art, every child will have the opportunity to experience theatre.

The event will last for five days.

The theatre days will take place between November 5-9, 2024, and the plays will be performed at the State Theatre Şehitkamil Stage, one of Turkey’s renowned cultural and artistic centers. The first play will be staged on November 5. The children’s play Peter Pan, directed by Ozan Kalkan, will meet the children in two sessions on Tuesday, November 5. The first session will be at 11:00 AM, and the second session will be at 2:30 PM.

Each day, there will be two performances.

On the second and third days of the theatre days, the play Tebeşir Ağacı, written and directed by Erkan Uyanıksoy, will be staged. This show will meet with children aged 8 and above on November 6 and 7, Wednesday and Thursday, at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

On the fourth and fifth days of the 1st Children’s Theatre Days, the play Şifreli Köpek, written and directed by Ali Meriç, will be performed for children aged 5 and above. This play will be staged on November 8-9, Friday and Saturday, with the first session at 11:00 AM and the second session at 2:00 PM.

Let our children not fall behind in art

Şehitkamil Mayor Umut Yılmaz stated that they attach great importance to the development of children and emphasized that they do not want any child in Şehitkamil to miss out on art. Yılmaz noted that children will spend a week filled with art with the 1st Children’s Theatre Days and invited all children to the theatre performances, which will be free of charge.
