The 8th International Student Science Congress in the field of “Health Sciences” was held at SANKO University, organized under the coordination of the T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Directorate of Overseas Turks and Relative Communities, in collaboration with the Istanbul Science Academy.
In his speech at the congress, SANKO University Rector Prof. Dr. Güner Dağlı stated, “The greatest power we can have to overcome all the challenges we face is knowledge.”
Prof. Dr. Dağlı emphasized that to keep this power always up to date, they must read more, research, produce science, and utilize the knowledge and experiences gained for the benefit of society, highlighting the importance of the congress organized for this purpose.
Recalling that a total of 496 papers were submitted to the congress, of which 148 were deemed suitable for presentation, Prof. Dr. Dağlı continued his speech:
“We are happy that the international congress, where international students studying in Turkey share their views and suggestions regarding the needs of people in today’s world, is hosted by our university in the field of ‘Health Sciences.’ Our fundamental goal as a university specialized in health is to train individuals who contribute to the production of universal knowledge in the light of science. We are aware that we need to provide the necessary support to science to add value to the development of our city and country, and we must also excite and motivate our own students in this regard.”
Prof. Dr. Dağlı expressed that it is significant for our country that students from around the world not only receive education in Turkey but also share the Turkish culture they experience during their educational journey in their own countries.
He concluded his remarks by stating, “On the 101st anniversary of our Republic, we will continue to work tirelessly to raise future generations with this awareness for a stronger Turkey.”
The sessions of the congress were chaired by SANKO University Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean and Director of Graduate Education Institute Prof. Dr. Ayşen Bayram, Head of the Department of Medical Biochemistry Prof. Dr. E. İlker Saygılı, Head of the Department of Public Health Prof. Dr. Necdet Aytaç, Head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology Prof. Dr. Mehtap Özkur, Faculty Member of the Department of Anatomy Prof. Dr. Niyazi Acer, and Head of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Nevin Ergun.
Prof. Dr. Zafer Çetin, Head of the Department of Medical Biology at the Faculty of Medicine, chaired the second session held on the first day of the congress at Gaziantep University (GAÜN).
The congress was attended by Higher Education Council (YÖK) Member Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, Istanbul Medeniyet University Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, SANKO University General Secretary Dr. Yusuf Ziya Yıldırım, Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Salih Murat Akkın, along with academic staff and students.
