Hüseyin Can: “Despite the challenging weather conditions, I achieved a good result”

Hüseyin Can, a national athlete who ranked 6th in the general classification men’s category of the Türkiye İş Bankası 43rd Istanbul Marathon with a time of 2:14:34, stated that the wind made it challenging for them but despite that, he achieved a good time.
In the 46th Istanbul Marathon, national athlete Hüseyin Can placed 6th among men in the 42K general classification with a time of 2:14:34. Competing among elite athletes, Can secured the first position among Turks. The 25-year-old athlete made statements to Ihlas News Agency (IHA) reporters after the marathon.
Expressing his happiness for continuously raising his performance in each race, Hüseyin Can said, “For me, this was like a title match again. I’ve been participating in the Istanbul Marathon every year since 2020. I am constantly progressing by increasing my performance during this process. Thank God, this year I took a step further and placed 6th in the general classification, becoming the champion among Turks. I ran a very good time. It is a very positive time for me. I could have done better, but it didn’t happen due to the weather conditions. Health is important. Hopefully for the next competitions.”

Can mentioned that the weather conditions affected them, saying, “I ran 2:14:34. If it weren’t for the wind, my time could have equated to 2:11-2:12, but this is the beautiful aspect of sports; it is about fighting, pushing the limits, and achieving the impossible. In a way, we did that here. Despite the challenging weather conditions, we achieved a very good time.”

“I hope to achieve better times and reach the podium in the general classification”
Emphasizing that his goal is also to reach the podium in the general classification, Hüseyin Can stated, “My main goal here is to gradually take a step further and find myself in the general classification as soon as possible, experiencing the pride of being in my own country while stepping on that podium. I previously held the U23 Turkish record and have Turkey championships. It is gradually increasing step by step. I hope to achieve better times in the coming years and reach the podium in the general classification.”
