Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, together with Konak Municipality Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu, conducted inspections on İkiçeşmelik Street, Agora, and Cicipark. Stating that they want to revitalize the neighborhoods that stand out with their historical texture and thousands of years of history in Konak, Mayor Tugay said, “We want to ease the lives of our citizens with small touches and implement projects that touch people’s lives.”

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay visited the oldest neighborhoods of Konak with Konak Municipality Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu. The field tour organized to see the problems experienced in the neighborhoods on-site and to produce healthy solutions also featured colorful images. In the program where children showed great interest in Mayor Tugay, citizens and tradespeople shared their demands.

After inspecting Cici Park located in Eşrefpaşa, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay and Konak Municipality Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu then went to a café in Selçuk Neighborhood. Mayor Tugay chatted with citizens for a while and then visited the vendors in the İkiçeşmelik region. He also conducted inspections in the Namazgah Neighborhood, where the Agora Open-Air Museum is located.

“We want to make our citizens’ lives easier”
Mayor Tugay, in his evaluation after the field tour, stated, “This area is generally a protected site. Therefore, although we cannot make some fundamental changes very quickly, we want to ease our citizens’ lives with small touches. For example, we plan to build a small soccer field. We will have some projects like renewing the parks here. We will have street health restoration works. It was a pleasant, beautiful trip. Our field visits will continue.”

Konak Municipality Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu also thanked Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, saying, “We toured the oldest settlements of Konak. The Agora and its surroundings, the İkiçeşmelik region are very important places for Izmir. They are also places that urgently need intervention. Today, we determined how we will work in the area. The support of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is very important for us. We will do beautiful works together.”
