BTSO President İbrahim Burkay met with the members of the Historical Bazaar and Hanlar Region.

Ibrahim Burkay, the Chairman of the Board of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met with members in the Historical Bazaar and Inns Region, which is one of the city’s most important symbols with its seven-century history. Expressing that they are carrying out significant work as BTSO to strengthen the identity of the region as a center of attraction where trade is intertwined with history and culture, President Burkay stated that they have prepared the businesses in the bazaar for the waiting opportunities in digital transformation, e-commerce, and e-export with the “Payitaht Bazaar Digital Transformation Project.”

BTSO President Ibrahim Burkay, board members, and council division members met with Isa Altıkardeş, the President of the Bursa Historical Bazaar and Inns Union, and the tradespeople of the bazaar. Speaking at the event held at Tayyare Culture Center, President Burkay shared details about BTSO’s work in the bazaar and inns region, the digital transformation center project, as well as GUHEM and the TEKNOSAB Logistics Park, which will be realized with the Venture Capital Investment Fund. President Burkay stated that many businessmen in Bursa started their commercial journey in the bazaar. He emphasized that they are implementing projects to utilize Bursa’s potential more effectively, saying, “We need to use the experience and potential our city has in the right areas. We have to carry this legacy left to us into the future. In this regard, we are holding many meetings and strategic workshops with the Bursa business community. God has granted us the opportunity to realize great projects that will change the future of a city and a country. We will continue these projects with greater strength.”

“We are turning our dreams into reality”

President Burkay stated that Bursa has historically been the center of trade and production. He expressed that Bursa has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, saying, “In addition to the high potential of our tradespeople, merchants, and industrialists, we have a strong infrastructure inherited from our ancestors. It is impossible to find cities like Bursa that have such diversity. However, these advantages need to be used correctly. Let’s not forget that everything starts with a dream. We are working to realize our dreams. We are realizing these dreams for Bursa.”

“We are bringing the digital transformation center to our region”

President Burkay emphasized that the younger generation must be encouraged to adopt new trade models such as e-commerce and e-export. Stating that both trade and the economy have transformed, especially with the pandemic over the last 20 years, BTSO President Burkay noted, “No conventional business is in a growth trend anymore. New and different businesses are in a growth trend. We must keep up with this change. We should not just focus on selling products to the crowd coming to the bazaar. We must open up to the world. We launched our digital transformation project to further strengthen the potential of our bazaar. In this context, we are organizing training for our businesses in the fields of e-commerce and digitalization. Additionally, our work for the Digital Transformation Center project that we plan to implement in the historical bazaar and inns region is ongoing.”

“TEKNOSAB Logistics Park will be one of the most important landmarks adding value to Bursa”

Stating that TEKNOSAB, Turkey’s high-tech organized industrial zone, is a visionary project for Bursa, President Burkay said they will also establish a Logistics Park there. He added that they will bring this project to Bursa through the Venture Capital Investment Fund model, saying, “We want to create an economic value in Bursa. We want the members of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry to benefit from this project. The purpose of establishing this fund is to invest in logistics. Initial entries into the fund are ongoing. We have extended the application period. The first issuances are allocated to the business world of Bursa. We desire for our members in the Historical Bazaar and Inns Region to also benefit from the project. This is a business that we will leave as a legacy to our children and grandchildren. This is not a completed process either. The TEKNOSAB Logistics Park will be one of the most important landmarks we will create for Bursa.”
