Warning of up to 30% savings in natural gas

As temperatures drop in Konya, experts warn that timely maintenance of the heating systems that have started to be used can lead to savings of up to 30% on natural gas bills.

As the temperatures begin to fall these days, heating system maintenance is at the top of the winter preparation list. Citizens using heating systems in their homes and workplaces have started to turn on their devices for warmth. Experts emphasize the importance of regular maintenance of heating systems each year. If maintenance is not performed, bills can increase even more.

“We believe it will be very healthy and economically beneficial for the consumer.”

Mehmet Ünlügül, President of the Konya Plumbing and Heating Contractors Chamber, emphasized the benefits of regular annual maintenance: “If maintenance is performed, you will see that it reflects as a 30% saving on the bill. It is beneficial to clean radiator fins and have our heating system maintenance done every year. We believe it will be very healthy and economically beneficial for the consumer. Since our water is also hard, it affects the system. Radiator cleaning should definitely be done every year. These cleanings should be done by authorized services; we should not have them done by unauthorized individuals. There are advertisers on internet search engines, and it should not be done by what we call underground businesses. If it’s done improperly, it can damage the heating system, and nothing will be accomplished. This should be done by authorized persons. Our citizens can seek support from our chamber if necessary. Chamber President Mehmet Ünlügül stated, “There are exchangers, cards, and memory cards inside the heating systems. Therefore, maintenance should be done by reliable individuals. Otherwise, these components may be damaged, leading to higher costs. That’s why we recommend annual maintenance. To ensure our heating system lasts long, we advise annual maintenance for better performance and longevity of the components.”

Mustafa Tunaşam, a Heating System Maintenance Expert, also pointed out the significant impact of maintenance on the device’s efficiency: “In heating system maintenance, important tasks include checking the plate heat exchanger, filter, combustion settings, and the air in the expansion tank. If these are not done, and depending on the contamination of the system, it may be necessary to drain the system and refill it with water. We have protective chemicals that are beneficial for keeping the system clean. If we apply this chemical after cleaning the system, our device and radiators will last longer. The failure rate of the device increases in the middle of winter. For instance, the device may fail during late-night hours or on a Sunday, leaving you cold in winter. Delays may occur due to the workload of technicians. To avoid this, we recommend performing maintenance before winter fully sets in. Gas leaks may not have been checked, and we could encounter gas odors. God forbid, we may face more significant disasters. Additionally, we might be dealing with water leaks in the middle of winter or late at night. For these reasons, it is important to pay attention to these issues.
