The Lavender Robotics team, operating under the umbrella of the Geleceği Tasarlayan Gençler Derneği, which is the first and only children’s association in Manisa, launched their ‘Journey Beyond Science’ project in the container cities in the earthquake-affected region of Adıyaman. The project aims to help children in disadvantaged areas discover their potential on the path to their dreams by providing them access to science and technology.
The Lavender Robotics team went to Adıyaman between October 24-28, 2024, as part of the ‘Journey Beyond Science’ project. The association’s Vice President Ada Kazıl stated that the team consisted of Association President Ege Kazıl, team member İbrahim Cingöz, and mentors Hülya Ergül Kazıl and Akın Bozacı. She mentioned that the project’s goal is to provide children in disadvantaged areas with equal rights by bringing science and technology to them and to promote social equality.
Both their skills and communication abilities are improving
Ada Kazıl, the Vice President of the association, explained that they are operating in the K-2A, K-2B, P-2 container living cities and the Adıyaman Youth Center, which are their first stops. “We aim to reach many students in disadvantaged regions and schools as part of our project. We offer robotic training to increase children’s interest in STEM+A fields and to enhance their imagination and creativity. Through these trainings, we aim to develop their scientific thinking skills while strengthening their self-expression abilities with the effective communication training organized by our teacher Akın Bozacı,” she said.
Kazıl concluded her statement by emphasizing their goal of creating a social impact by touching the lives of children in disadvantaged regions: “With robotic coding training and activities in STEM+A fields like the Marshmallow Challenge, they will develop creative thinking skills while encouraging teamwork in a fun way. With our ‘Journey Beyond Science’ project, we aim to take a step on the path to students’ dreams and assist them in discovering their potential. Through this project, we aim to create a social impact by touching the lives of children in disadvantaged regions.
