The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council’s Tourism Promotion and Art Commission has begun its on-site examination of the tourist values in all districts, starting with the Akhisar district, in order to enhance Manisa’s tourism potential.

Aiming to create a comprehensive roadmap in the field of tourism, the Tourism Promotion and Art Commission visited Akhisar Mayor Besim Dutlulu at his office to gather information about the district’s tourism values. The visit was attended by CHP Group Deputy Chairman and commission member Erdinç Yavaşlı, Tourism Promotion and Art Commission Chairman Lütfi Akdağ, and commission members Emine Koç, Faruk Östlüer, Gülten Ezgi Tulaz, Mustafa Gül, and Yasin Yalçın. Akhisar Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Ekrem Kayserili, as well as Metropolitan Municipality Council Members Sema Şenyaşa and Gülden Erhun, were also present during the visit.

Following the visit to Akhisar Municipality, the commission members toured the Thyateira Ancient City, which bears traces of the ancient period, and the Akhisar Museum. They then visited various workshops at the Uğur Mumcu Cultural and Art Center of Akhisar Municipality, including the Accessible Workshop, Wood Design, Ceramics, Mosaic, Decorative Painting, Technology, and Music workshops, to gather information about art and educational activities.

The historic structures of Akhisar, such as the Paşa Mosque, Ulu Mosque, and Sheikh Isa Mosque, along with the Zeynelzade Children’s Library and the art street featuring artworks produced by women, were also included in the visited locations. The tour of Akhisar concluded with a visit to the Monument Garden, which houses 1500-year-old olive trees.

It was stated that the visits of the Tourism Promotion and Art Commission would be an important step towards evaluating all tourist values of Manisa in cooperation with local administrations and developing a sustainable tourism route.
