Limak Philharmonic Orchestra held its first concert abroad at the Palau de la Música Catalana (Catalan Music Palace), one of the cultural symbols of Barcelona. The concert, which took place last night in the historical atmosphere of the Catalan Music Palace, considered one of the most prestigious stages in the world, featured world-renowned stars of opera on the same stage.
Limak Group continues its social investment activities alongside its economic investments in various sectors and different geographies. Limak, which is one of the official supporters of the world-famous Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Spain, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crowned the joint cultural heritage of Turkey and Spain with a magnificent concert.
The concert, which began with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives due to flooding in the eastern and southern regions of Spain, was attended by Limak Group Honorary Chairman Nihat Özdemir, Limak Group and Limak Foundation Board Chair Ebru Özdemir, Turkey’s Ambassador to Madrid Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta, Palau de la Música President Joaquim Uriach, and many guests from the business, sports, art, and media worlds of both countries. The Limak Philharmonic Orchestra’s first international concert, titled ‘Fascinating Melodies of the Mediterranean: Arias, Duets, and More’, took the audience on a captivating journey by presenting a wide repertoire from the rich musical and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean. The concert also featured musicians from the Vallés Symphony Orchestra, one of the leading orchestras in Catalonia, alongside the Limak Philharmonic Orchestra, with pieces from traditional folk tunes and contemporary works receiving great applause from the audience.
Concert proceeds will be directed to disaster victims in Spain.
In light of the flood disaster that has affected the eastern and southern regions of Spain over the last two days, which resulted in dozens of fatalities, Ebru Özdemir, Chair of Limak Group and Limak Foundation, expressed her condolences and stated that the proceeds from the concert would be donated to the disaster victims in the region. Özdemir also noted that Limak Philharmonic Orchestra’s first concert abroad in Barcelona marks an important milestone, stating: “We support our economic investments in the countries where we operate with our social investments. In this context, we signed a cooperation protocol with the Palau de la Música Catalana in May of this year, representing Barcelona’s commitment to music, culture, and architectural excellence. Now, with this beautiful concert by the Limak Philharmonic Orchestra, we have experienced a very important moment in our partnership and realized ‘a dream’.
We are strengthening the cultural and social ties between the two countries through our projects in Spain, where we share a common Mediterranean culture. We have our signature on iconic structures that define the spirit and heart of Barcelona, one of Spain’s important cultural and tourism centers. One of these is the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium, a significant temple in the world of football. By continuing our renovation work with an awareness of the deep importance this iconic structure holds for Barcelona, we are leaving a meaningful mark on the Catalan cultural heritage. On the other hand, we are launching the Global Engineer Girls (GEG) program, led by the Limak Foundation, soon in Spain after Turkey, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Saudi Arabia. With this goal, we are making meaningful initiatives under the themes of culture, art, and education in the geographies we operate in. The international dimension of these meaningful social investments carried out by our group shows that we are on the right path. We are very happy that Limak Philharmonic Orchestra’s eight-year journey full of success is being carried internationally, just as our project, which we have proudly carried out as Turkey’s Engineer Girls for the past nine years, has evolved into a global social impact movement like Global Engineer Girls (GEG).
By joining the ranks of the official supporters of the Palau de la Música Catalana, Limak Group supports the ‘Palau Vincles’ program, an initiative that promotes inclusivity and social integration through collective choir works involving children and youth.
