The farm at the school in Erzincan will produce winter vegetables.
With the protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of National Education, the “Farm at School” project has started, where young students began winter vegetable production after the end of summer vegetable production.

In the “School Farm” project initiated by the protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of National Education, young students have started winter vegetable production after the summer vegetable production has ended.
The project aims to raise awareness among children about agriculture, forestry, nature, and natural life, to promote consciousness, to develop a sense of belonging, and to encourage them to take action.
The project covers 28 provinces across the country, with one school and one class designated in each province. The project in Erzincan was carried out at Demirkent TOKİ Primary School. As a part of the second phase of the project, a greenhouse was established in the school garden, where students cultivated vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers throughout the summer.
After the summer season ended, the primary school students planted winter vegetables such as lettuce, green onions, and parsley in their greenhouses at Demirkent TOKİ Primary School during the winter season.
During the summer period, students showed great interest and affection for the greenhouse. Their passion for production and interest in the greenhouse during the winter vegetable planting were remarkable.
Ahmet Sağsöz, the Principal of Demirkent TOKİ Primary School, stated that the greenhouse established by the Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry within the framework of the School Farm Project generated great interest and excitement among students, adding that the students experienced the joy of participating in production.
Murat Şahin, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry of Erzincan, said, “With this project, it was aimed for children to create awareness about agriculture, forestry, and nature, to raise consciousness, to develop a sense of belonging, and to take action. The greenhouse we established at Demirkent TOKİ Primary School, along with the practical training conducted, is very valuable to us as it has included our children in the production processes. Our children managed to produce in the greenhouse starting from scratch. This is very important for both them and our country. I congratulate all our students.”
