With the drop in temperatures, there is increased activity in the auto industry, and mechanics emphasize the importance of winter maintenance, stating that neglecting a 4,000 lira winter service could lead to damages costing 70,000 lira.
In Aksaray, as the air temperatures drop and winter begins to show itself, there is also activity in the auto industry. Vehicle owners who want to have winter maintenance done are flocking to the auto industry, where vehicles undergo antifreeze checks, oil changes, and various inspections. When winter maintenance, which averages between 3,000 and 4,000 lira for a vehicle, is not performed, more serious malfunctions can occur in the vehicle. Therefore, vehicle repair specialists emphasize the importance of winter maintenance, stating that it must be done before winter fully arrives.
Service vehicle maintenance chief Muhammet Atak expressed that neglecting the 3,000-4,000 lira winter maintenance could lead to damages of at least 60,000 to 70,000 lira, stating, “Winter maintenance is very important for vehicles. It definitely needs to be done. Winter maintenance typically costs between 3,000 and 4,000 lira. If winter maintenance is not performed, it can cause damages around 60,000-70,000 lira. A potential danger is the freezing of the engine coolant, which can cause the block plugs to burst, the water pump to corrode, water leaks, and the gasket to burn. As a result, it can cost around 60,000-70,000 lira. Vehicle maintenance should be done before entering winter. Checks for oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and steering fluid need to be conducted. If not checked, there is a high chance of the vehicle’s engine coolant freezing, which increases the risk to the engine. Antifreeze is very important. It can also cause water leakage from the water pump. If there is internal engine water freezing, it poses greater risks to the vehicle. Therefore, the antifreeze levels need to be measured. To extend the life of the engine, oil changes must be performed. Nowadays, if vehicles are not well-maintained, they may require engine reconditioning between 100,000 and 150,000 kilometers.”
