During the visit, Erkol shared his views on Bayburt, stating that efforts against drug trafficking and fraud would continue to increase.
Appointed as the Provincial Police Chief of Bayburt with a decree in August, Barış Erkol mentioned that it was his first time in Bayburt, but he had prior knowledge about the city, saying, “Bayburt is the city of peace. It was a city with very few public order incidents, which we also monitored. After starting my duty, I witnessed this on site.”
Erkol reported that they have accelerated their efforts to elevate the peace in Bayburt to a better level, noting that they have taken steps particularly against online fraud cases and that they attach great importance to the issue of drugs, indicating that efforts in this regard would intensify.
Speaking about the importance of the press during the visit and stating that press members fulfill a very significant duty, Erkol said, “We will further improve the safe and peaceful environment in Bayburt. In this sense, while there are duties for the police, there are also responsibilities for the community and for press members, who are an important part of this community. Together, we will fight against those who attempt to reach out to the city’s future and spread evil.”
