In the October Assembly Meeting of the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO), KTO Board Chairman Ömer Gülsoy stated, “We will initiate a change with the exchange of the World Trade Center to revitalize our idle old Chamber of Commerce building.”

The meeting, held at the KTO Conference Hall, was attended by KTO Board Chairman Ömer Gülsoy, board members, and chamber members. After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Chairman Ömer Gülsoy spoke at the meeting, saying, “We are in a very special week where we celebrate the 101st anniversary of our Republic. We are excited, more than that, we are proud. The Republic of Turkey, which we declared to the world on October 29, 1923, crowned by the sacrifices of the honorable Turkish nation under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is a country that we will protect and watch over forever. Happy 101st anniversary of our Republic. May the Republic of Turkey live forever. Let us not forget that the last breath of our heroes who gave their lives for the establishment of this republic is the breath we are taking right now.

The Republic is a turning point. It is the complete independence of the people. It is proof that the Turkish nation and state will live until eternity. I remember with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation our martyrs and veterans who are the architects of this great legacy, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. During this period, as the business world, we will continue to work with all our strength to create a more developed and prosperous Turkey in accordance with the conditions of the day, inspired by the strength and inspiration we gained from our ancestors in the face of all difficulties and to be pioneers of innovations.”

“Turkey will be the star of the future”

Stating that Turkey is moving towards a good point and will be the star of the future, Gülsoy said, “We need to separate ourselves from the environment of wars, geopolitical tensions, and inflationary pressures. As Turkey, we are moving towards a good point, and I believe that we will be the shining star of the future. We have expressed from the very beginning how inflation, which is the root cause of the problems we are facing today, is a threat to our country. The inflation we are currently experiencing is very different from what we experienced in the past due to changes in consumer habits. Therefore, I believe that the primary goal of the current economic management to permanently reduce inflation is very correct, and we see that the targets set in the 2025-2027 Medium-Term Program present a consistent strategy. For this reason, our greatest wish is for the program to succeed in the current period. We need suitable financing opportunities to be able to turn to new investments, protect our existing markets, and increase our employment capacities and trade volumes. We expect more inclusive, well-analyzed selective credits that take into account the balance of the labor market for our SMEs, which are the building blocks of our growth targets. We hope that public banks will step in during this process to alleviate the difficulties faced in accessing finance due to high interest rates. In this sense, we believe that new incentives and supports that are lifeblood for the traders in the domestic market should be implemented.”

“Digitalization has eliminated all borders in the world”

Conveying that digitalization has eliminated all borders in the world, Gülsoy noted, “Digitalization has eliminated all borders in the world. Criteria in production and consumption have changed. We must turn the innovations brought by digitalization into an opportunity through value-added production and branding. I would like to especially remind you that the time for the Green Transformation, which is one of the biggest obstacles to our exports, is also shortening. As you all know, we are in an era where everything is on the internet. Our homes, offices, factories, and public spaces are all changing completely. There is a profound transformation in all sectors. In the future world, there will be robotic systems and quantum computers. The era of robots is beginning. Looking at today, the robot taxis, minibuses, and humanoid robots produced by the company owned by Elon Musk will soon enter our lives. Therefore, our companies must decide where and how to position themselves in the new world with changing business practices and should make their strategies and investments accordingly. Artificial intelligence offers a great opportunity not only for technology enthusiasts but for every sector and profession. Properly evaluating these opportunities can make your business processes more efficient and increase your competitiveness.”

Touching on export figures, Gülsoy stated, “In September, our exporting members made exports worth 313 million 712 thousand dollars to 147 countries. Our imports in Kayseri were 112 million 807 thousand dollars in September. In the January-September period, that is, in the first 9 months of the year, our total export figure has reached 2 billion 778 million 544 thousand dollars. Even under the most challenging conditions, we continue to grow and strengthen our economy with our investment, employment, production, and export-oriented approach. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our exporting members, business people, and dedicated employees who stand tall despite all difficulties, continue to produce for their hometown and country, and bring smiles to our faces.”

Stating, “We will initiate a change by exchanging the idle old Chamber of Commerce building with the World Trade Center and the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality,” Gülsoy continued his remarks as follows:

“In response to the statement made by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç during the Assembly Meeting, we will initiate a change with the exchange of the World Trade Center to revitalize our idle old Chamber of Commerce building. We want to contribute to our economy, trade, and promotion by organizing beautiful events, fairs, and congresses in our city. We will bring such a project to life. I do not want the Kayseri World Trade Center for myself. I want it for the benefit of the city, both for my institution and for our municipality. I have not had a personal request or demand, nor can I have one in the future. I thank Mayor Memduh for supporting us in this matter. God willing, a positive decision regarding this issue will be made at our next assembly meeting.”
