The decrease in water levels at Musaözü Pond in Eskişehir due to the lack of rainfall is causing concern among farmers, while the extent of drought was clearly visible in aerial images taken by a drone.

The effects of the dry autumn are apparent at Musaözü Pond located in the Tepebaşı district. The reduced water levels in the pond, which are observed to be lower compared to previous years, are still alarming. The cracks that have formed in the soil due to the decrease in water levels have drawn attention. The reduction of water at Musaözü Pond worries the surrounding farmers and the drought at the pond has been captured from the air.

“Nowadays, rainfall has decreased, climates have changed”

Fehmi Çiftçi, a farmer in the area, expressed his anxiety about the decrease of water at Musaözü Pond. He stated regarding the issue, “God willing, let it rain abundantly this year so that the dam fills up. Otherwise, the situation is dangerous. I know that the water level has dropped in previous years; I remember years when it decreased even more. When I look at the water level at Musaözü Dam today, I clearly recall that it has fallen by 6-7 meters. Currently, it is somewhat better. The dam used to be full, continuously full, and the rains were good. Unfortunately, nowadays, rainfall has decreased, and climates have changed. We didn’t have such warm weather in October when we were children. Sadly, we are becoming anxious. There is a tendency towards drought; this is the case globally. If we say drought is knocking at the door, it would probably be a correct statement. With God’s permission, let it rain abundantly, if it snows knee-deep 3-5 times and melts, the dam will fill up; if the lands are satisfied, everyone will breathe a sigh of relief, and the farmer will smile.”
