A celebration ceremony was held in Istanbul on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. On July 20, marking the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Victory, the 20 July Cyprus Victory Association, led by the association president, a Cyprus veteran and a retired General, held a commemorative event.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Victory on July 20, a celebration ceremony was organized by the July 20 Cyprus Victory Association, led by the association’s president, Cyprus Veteran, TMT fighter Ret. Gen. Cumhur Evcil, along with the Retired Navy Association, the Veterans Association, and the Anatolian Intellectuals Hearth. The program, which took place on October 26, 2024, at the Harbiye Military Museum, was attended by retired commanders, veterans, military and civilian administrators, heads of civil society organizations, and those who have a burning passion for the Turkish Cypriots. On behalf of the Army Commander, the ceremony was attended by Corps. Sezai Öztürk, Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Mehmet Yasin Kalın, former Minister of Justice İsmail Müftüoğlu, Deputy Rector of the National Defense University Prof. Dr. Serdar Salman, former Mayor of Hatay Doç. Dr. Lütfü Savaş, Ret. Gen. Serdar Savaş, Ret. Adm. Salim Dervişoğlu, Ret. Adm. Metin Ataç, Ret. Corps. Altay Tokat, Ret. Maj. Gen. Tarık Özkut, and Özcan Atamert, the daughter of the founder of TMT, Maj. Gen. Danış Karabelen, who was a guest of honor at the program.
The ceremony, hosted by Altan Akışık, began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. Following this, Cumhur Evcil, the president of the July 20 Cyprus Victory Association, delivered the opening speech. The program then continued with speeches from the guest of honor, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar. Songs and marches were performed accompanied by a Mehteran concert. A film featuring Rauf Denktaş’s 10-minute historical statements about Cyprus was screened.
In his speech, President Ersin Tatar stated that the painful experiences in Cyprus would not be allowed to happen again and emphasized that they were working with all their strength for the independent Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to continue its existence as a sovereign, independent state recognized by all world countries and as a member of the Turkic States Organization.
