Bartın University (BARÜ) continued its rise in the ‘Turkey University Ranking’ announced by the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) with its qualified scientific research and studies.

The University Ranking By Academic Performance (URAP), which operates under the Middle East Technical University (METU) Informatics Institute, announced the 2024-2025 Turkey Rankings. This year, 190 higher education institutions from Turkey were evaluated in the ranking, considering indicators such as articles, citations, scientific documents, doctoral programs, faculty/students, international cooperation, domestic cooperation, and TÜBİTAK project indicators.

BARÜ’s Goal: Continuous Improvement

According to the URAP Turkey Ranking, BARÜ managed to rise by 3 places in the Overall Universities Ranking and by 4 places in the State Universities Ranking compared to the previous year, demonstrating sustainable performance. This year, BARÜ surpassed 117 higher education institutions included in the ranking, placing 73rd in the Overall Universities Ranking and 57th in the State Universities Ranking. BARÜ, which stands out with its qualified scientific research and studies, ranked 19th in the Ranking of Universities without Medical Schools and 24th in the Ranking of Universities Established After 2000.

23 places up in 6 years in the overall university ranking

Despite the increase in the number of universities included in the ranking, BARÜ rose 23 places in 6 years. In 2023, BARÜ ranked 76th among 190 universities, 84th among 184 universities in 2022, 90th among 179 universities in 2021, 91st among 166 universities in 2020, and 96th among 166 universities in 2019. Additionally, BARÜ managed to move up 21 places among state universities in the 2019-2020 URAP Turkey Ranking over the past 6 years.

Successes in research quality highlighted in URAP rankings

Continuing its rise in thematic rankings, BARÜ ranked 36th in the ‘Citation Score Ranking,’ 54th in the ‘Article Score Ranking,’ 57th in the ‘International Cooperation Ranking,’ 63rd in the ‘Domestic Cooperation Ranking,’ 66th in the ‘Scientific Document Ranking,’ 72nd in the ‘TÜBİTAK Project Ranking,’ 86th in the ‘Faculty/Student Ranking,’ and 141st in the ‘Doctoral Score Ranking.’ Recording an increase in 7 subfields, BARÜ achieved significant success by rising 59 places in the ‘Citation Score Ranking’ and 14 places in the ‘Article Score Ranking,’ two important indicators of research quality.

In the ‘Article Score Ranking’ of Universities without Medical Schools, BARÜ ranked 14th, and in the ‘Citation Score Ranking,’ it ranked 12th; while in the ‘Article Score Ranking’ of Universities Established After 2000, it ranked 18th and 8th in the ‘Citation Score Ranking,’ continuing its sustainable rise.

BARÜ’s achievements reflected in THE 2025 World University Rankings

As a result of its efforts to be among the best universities in the world, BARÜ continued its sustainable success by being included in the lists of international evaluation institutions. In the recently announced THE 2025 World University Rankings, BARÜ placed 455th among the top 500 universities in the world in the ‘Research Quality’ category, improving its success by surpassing 108 universities compared to the previous year, where it first entered the 2024 list. BARÜ ranked 2nd in Turkey in the ‘Research Quality’ category and 1st among state universities. Additionally, it maintained its position in the general ranking band of 1001-1200, becoming the 13th best university in Turkey.

Emphasizing that BARÜ continues to rise in national and international rankings, Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun stated, ‘As Bartın University, we continue to be included in national and international indices with our scientific studies, qualified publications, and research with high technological impact value. With the sustainable development we demonstrate, we are gaining significant momentum in higher education ranking evaluations, increasing our successes each year.
