The 101st anniversary celebrations of the Republic turned into a grand festival with the participation of people of all ages. The excitement, which peaked with the participation of tens of thousands of citizens in the torchlight procession at Delikliçınar Square and the performance of beloved artist Berkay, was truly remarkable. The people of Denizli joyfully celebrated the holiday, singing along to the marches and songs.

Tens of thousands of citizens attended the Berkay concert organized by the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality for the Republic Day on October 29. The attendees filled Delikliçınar Square, overflowing into the surrounding areas. While many events were organized throughout the city by the Metropolitan Municipality to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the Republic’s declaration, the celebrations culminated with a concert by the beloved artist Berkay. As in previous years, this year’s main address for the October 29 Republic Day events was again Delikliçınar Square, where the joy and excitement of the Republic were celebrated abundantly with the participation of thousands of citizens in the torchlight procession. Among the attendees were Denizli MP Şeref Arpacı, Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, his wife Nilgün Çavuşoğlu, Secretary General Bülent Bozbaş, council members, guests, and many citizens.

The events, which drew intense interest from the people of Denizli, began with a Zeybek performance prepared by the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Sports Folk Dance Team and students from Gülay Kaynak Sarıkaya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The light show held throughout the night received great acclaim, while the citizens watching the show sang along to the marches played before the concert, waving Turkish flags. Berkay, who took the stage at the concert, added color to the night with a special repertoire of his beloved songs. The famous artist connected with the audience through both emotional and lively moments. Speaking to the people of Denizli from the stage, Berkay said, “It is an honor to share this great enthusiasm with the people of Denizli. Happy Republic Day to us. I thank our Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu for providing this opportunity and all of you for not leaving me alone.”

“We will shout with full voices; Happy Republic Day to us”
Denizli Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu stated that they were indecisive about whether to hold the Republic Day events due to the terrorist attack and the forest fire that occurred in the city, but they concluded that the Republic must be celebrated under any circumstances. Mayor Çavuşoğlu said, “Not celebrating this holiday means that our ancestors’ bones are aching. We must shout the Republic with full voices everywhere, in every condition, even in our worst times, and we must fearlessly say, ‘Long live Mustafa Kemal Pasha.’ We will not be sick or have headaches during our national holidays. We will also hold accountable those who cannot find Anıtkabir wherever they go in the world. This holiday is our biggest holiday, and it is a holiday that will be celebrated by shouting with full voices. Happy Republic Day to us on October 29.”
