The champion of the Republic Cup in Talas has been determined.

The excitement has come to an end in the inter-faculty football tournament organized by Talas Municipality as part of the Republic Day celebrations on October 29. The champion of the Republic Cup, which took place with the participation of students from Erciyes and Kayseri Universities, was the Faculty of Sports Sciences of ERÜ.

The tournament, held under the slogan “Form Your Team, Join the Tournament,” was filled with great excitement. The event, which saw participation from 264 athletes across 22 teams and was conducted in a single-elimination format, culminated in the final match played on October 29, Republic Day.

The trophy ceremony, held after the final match played at the football field of Talas Belediyespor in the Harman neighborhood, was attended by Talas Mayor Mustafa Yalçın, ERÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, KAYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa, AK Party Talas District Chairman Mustafa Kiraz, MHP Talas District Chairman Kayhan Saraç, deputy mayors, department heads, and athletes.

“The Message of Our Youth”

Mayor of Talas Mustafa Yalçın began his remarks by celebrating Republic Day, stating, “Our youth, who are our future, are sending a message to every nation in the world by showing themselves in culture, art, sports, literature, and science. We have held a beautiful event here. In addition, we have organized many activities for the youth, from libraries to art and sports. I thank our rectors for always being with us. We have completed an event with 22 teams and 264 athletes. It took place in a very nice and harmonious environment. I congratulate our youth, the dedicated teachers, and everyone involved. Here’s to meeting for many centuries to come!”

“Our President is Always with Us When We Need Him”

KAYÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa emphasized that President Yalçın stands by universities and youth, saying, “We attach great importance to social, cultural, and sporting activities. Whenever we mentioned a need to our president, he opened his heart to us. Therefore, on behalf of my university, I express my gratitude to our president and the Talas Municipality.”

“Thanks to Our President, ERÜ is at a High Level”

ERÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun expressed that friendship won in the organization, stating, “Here, not just one team, but 22 teams became champions. Our esteemed president has always been with us in many activities related to our university. This is extremely important for universities. If Erciyes University is mentioned at a high level today, I want to express that we owe this to our president and philanthropists like him.”

Following the speeches, awards were presented to the teams that ranked in the 29 October Republic Cup. In the ceremony, the Faculty of Sports Sciences of ERÜ became the champion, while the Faculty of Engineering of ERÜ secured the second place.
