Karaburun Fish Market has opened for service.

Arnavutköy Municipality has opened the Karaburun Fish Market to ensure that citizens have access to fresh fish and can obtain it at a lower price.

The Karaburun Fish Market, implemented by Arnavutköy Municipality, aims to facilitate the access of the local population to fresh and affordable fish. Designed to be integrated with the Karaburun Fishermen’s Shelter, the Fish Market provides a new sales area for fishermen while allowing citizens to directly access reliable and fresh fish. Fish brought in by boats early in the morning are delivered directly to the stalls, enabling consumers to purchase fresh fish at more economical prices without intermediaries. This situation offers the district’s residents a healthy and budget-friendly shopping opportunity.

The Karaburun Fish Market is expected to revitalize fishing activities in the region and make Karaburun one of the centers of seafood trade in Istanbul. Local fishermen will have the opportunity to reach a wider audience for their products thanks to the new facility, while the district’s residents enjoy the advantage of easily accessing fresh fish daily.

Citizens have shown intense interest in the Karaburun Fish Market since its opening days and expressed their satisfaction. Oltan Özyurt stated that they had to constantly wait for boats to buy fish, saying, “We were always waiting for a boat here to buy fish; sometimes it happened, sometimes it didn’t. Now we can access fish in a more organized and affordable way,” expressing the convenience provided by the new facility.

Another citizen mentioned that the Karaburun Fish Market has increased the activity in the area, stating, “The expectation of Karaburun and surrounding neighborhoods was for this place to become lively. It has become very nice with the help of our mayor. Having such a fish market here allows citizens to access fresh and cheap fish.”

Kubilay Akbulut, one of the fishermen operating in Karaburun, expressed the order brought to the fishing industry by the Karaburun Fish Market with these words: “Our municipality started a construction here, our shops were renovated, and our fishermen’s shelter was built. We as fishermen bought shops here and started our sales. We were already doing this job, but there was no order. Now everyone has a shop, which has been good for both us and the citizens.”

The Karaburun Fish Market offers a chance for local fishermen to generate income while also making it possible for the district’s residents to access fresh and economical fish.
