In recent years, the global climate crisis, which has adversely affected all sectors in the world, particularly agriculture and livestock, has led to the preparation of a project by the Aydın Province Breeders Association (ADSYB) to reduce these negative impacts. The project was deemed worthy of support by the European Union with a 100% grant. The ADSYB’s project was selected among 119 projects applied from 36 countries and received a grant support of 146,000 Euros.

Mehmet Sedat Güngör, the Chairman of ADSYB, stated that they are delighted to be part of such a project in Europe and noted that their prepared project managed to attract the attention of the European Union. Güngör also mentioned that this project will help define a roadmap for future dairy farms against the global climate crisis, thanking project manager Hediye Cerit and the association staff.

Chairman Güngör pointed out that the project “Increasing Climate Resilience in Dairy Farms,” which is supported by the Climaax Project conducted under the European Union Horizon Europe Program and prepared by ADSYB, was selected from among 119 proposals made from 36 countries. He stated, “A total of 32 projects across Europe qualified for grants. Our project was one of the four selected from Turkey. We are proud to represent Turkey as the Aydın Province Breeders Association.”

Güngör emphasized that climate change has become one of the most critical issues facing societies today, stating, “The increase in extreme weather events and other climate-related dangers poses serious risks to both national economies and ecosystems. In our province, losses and issues related to drought and heat stress in plant and animal production are also increasing. Our project aims to assess these risks and develop effective strategies. The main goal of the ‘Increasing Climate Resilience in Dairy Farms’ project is to enhance climate resilience in dairy farming in Aydın Province and to combat climate change. Within the scope of the project, which will continue for 22 months, multi-risk assessments of climate change will be conducted, and climate adaptation strategies will be developed to increase the resilience and adaptation of agricultural resources against climate change.”
