Uğur Schools celebrated the 101st anniversary of the Republic with great enthusiasm at the İzmir Bornova Campus, accompanied by the Republic Choir. In the concert, pieces were performed that narrated a storyline about Mustafa Kemal’s journey starting from Samsun, the starting point of the National Struggle before the proclamation of the Republic, visiting all 7 regions of Anatolia. A choir of 40 students from Uğur Schools was joined by 7 musicians, artists from TRT and the Ministry of Culture. Before each piece in the concert, a story referring to the song was narrated, which was met with great interest from the audience. Among the attendees were Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, Uğur Schools General Manager Mustafa Çakır, Uğur Schools Deputy General Managers, Atatürk’s relative Funda Talay, storyteller actress Zeynep Başkaya, as well as parents and students from Uğur Schools Bornova Campus.
‘We will continue to protect the prideful heritage as we have for 56 years’
While the 101st year of the Republic was commemorated with the pieces performed by the choir, the audience also joined in with great enthusiasm. During the concert, visuals of Atatürk were displayed on the back screen. Speaking at the end of the concert, Uğur Schools General Manager Mustafa Çakır stated, “On October 29, 1923, our Republic, proclaimed under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, symbolizes our 101 years of independence and freedom. We will continue to protect this prideful heritage as we have for 56 years. Today, here, we, as educators striving to raise free-thinking, free-spirited generations in the light of the words of our Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, ‘My spiritual legacy is science and reason’, are proud to be present. May the 101st year of our Republic be blessed and joyful for many more years to come. As Uğur Schools, we have been defenders of the 101-year-old Republic for 56 years. As the Uğur family, we will continue to defend this Republic for many more 56 years to come.”
