The Republic Day on October 29 was celebrated with enthusiasm in the Varto district of Muş.

The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths in front of the Government House by Varto District Governor Musa Ayyıldız, who then received congratulations at the District Governor’s office. Following this, the program continued in the conference hall of the Varto Cultural Center, attended by Chief Public Prosecutor Tolga Yerlikaya, Garrison Commander Major Erkan Boz, Gendarmerie Company Commander Lieutenant Hasan Alataş, District Police Chief Sezer Yalçın, District National Education Director Yalçın Süne, department heads, veterans, teachers, and students. After a minute of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, District Governor Musa Ayyıldız delivered a speech, stating, “Throughout history, the noble Turkish nation, which has accepted its independence and freedom against all threats and dangers, has fought for liberation under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, enduring great pain, difficulties, and shortages, winning with the blood of thousands of martyrs, with honor and dignity. It has once again proven to the world how high-charactered a nation we are. The Republic we declared after our nation’s arduous struggle has not only been a testament to our national independence but also a contemporary and current governance system for us as a nation. Democracy has become an indispensable necessity of our age, defined as a form of governance in which individuals and societies express themselves best, where the people govern themselves. I express my endless gratitude and respect for our noble martyrs and veterans who made this land our homeland, led by our great leader Atatürk and his heroic comrades-in-arms.”

The program prepared by the Varto Selçuklu Imam Hatip Secondary School Administration and students concluded with the reading of poems and an oratory performance, followed by the presentation of awards to students who ranked in various competitions.
