On October 29, Republic Day, a march was organized in Pendik for the 101st anniversary celebrations. After the wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk monument, hundreds of students and citizens joined the march. Starting from the event area on Pendik beach, the students carried a 101-meter Turkish flag in their hands. The Pendik Municipality band accompanied the marching crowd, along with a torchlight procession. Ahmet Cin, the Mayor of Pendik, who attended the celebrations, stated, “I wish our Republic Day to be beneficial for our homeland and nation. Participant Damla Nur Bakırcı expressed, “I am very happy, especially because it is my birthday. I’m glad, it’s a beautiful thing, I’m very happy. There is a large crowd, it’s nice, everyone is cheerful, our children are here, with flags in our hands. Today is our greatest happiness.” Another citizen named Çağla Nur Ok said, “Today is a very precious day, the 101st year of the Republic. We are grateful to Atatürk for everything he gave us.
