The Enthusiasm of the Republic Surrounded Mudanya

The celebrations for the Republic Day on October 29th, organized by Mudanya Municipality under the theme “Long Live the Republic,” have begun. Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç stated that they will preserve the great legacy forever.

Mudanya, which hosted the agreement laying the foundations for the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, is celebrating the Republic Day with enthusiasm. The first day’s events started with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument, followed by the Republic Race in the categories of young girls and young boys, a flag and face painting workshop for children, and a talk titled “Design of the Republic.”

Emphasizing the significant achievements gained through the Republic, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç said, “Despite everything, regardless of all statements and changes, there is nothing that has changed in the path of modernity, development, independence, rights, and justice that the Great Leader Atatürk set before us. We will keep the great legacy alive forever, just as we have for 101 years.”

As part of the first day’s activities, writer Yalın Alpay met with the people of Mudanya in a conversation titled “Design of the Republic” at Mütareke Square, where he narrated the founding years of the Republic and the events that took place. Alpay conveyed how Atatürk envisioned the Republic and stated that thanks to the changes and innovations made by Atatürk, the Republic has been embraced.

In the daytime competitions, in the young girls category, Buse Selin Selvi came in first, Ecrin Kayar second, and Nehir Nur Kurtulmuş third, while in the young boys category, Emir Çelik came in first, Eyüp Sefa Geyik second, and İhsan Dikici third. The athletes received their medals from Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç and Deputy Mayor Baran Güneş in a ceremony held at Mütareke Square.

As part of the Republic Day celebrations, a parade of boats and a flag ceremony will be held on October 29 at 1:00 PM. The celebrations will conclude with the Republic March starting from İskele Square at 7:23 PM, followed by a concert of the Republic Youth at Mütareke Square.
