The 101st anniversary of the Republic Day on October 29 was celebrated with ceremonies in Erzurum. The program began with Governor Mustafa Çiftçi receiving congratulations at the Governorship and continued with a ceremony attended by citizens on Hospitals Street. The ceremony started with Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi, 9th Corps and Garrison Commander Major General Tuncay Altuğ, and Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Sekmen greeting the citizens from a military vehicle. MHP Erzurum Deputy Prof. Dr. Kamil Aydın and members of the protocol attended the ceremony. After a moment of silence and the National Anthem, a congratulatory message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was read.

In his speech at the ceremony, Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi stated that they were collectively experiencing the rightful pride and enthusiasm of reaching the 101st anniversary of the Republic, saying, “Today, as a nation, we celebrate the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. Happy 29th October Republic Day to our esteemed nation. On this meaningful day, I would like to thank each of you individually for honoring our ceremony and I greet you with my warmest feelings and respect. Our history, where the truth is always upheld, is filled with glorious victories. In this period of increasing global uncertainties, our state and government continue their efforts to establish peace, stability, and justice in our region. We must elevate our values that define us today, with the prayers of the oppressed who have their eyes on Turkey, and we should unite as one voice and one heart as we did in the War of Independence. We must work with all our strength to hand over our Republic to the youth, who are the guarantee of our future, in the best possible way, with the aim of reaching more prosperous tomorrows in the century of Turkey.”

Later, students recited poems, and the performances prepared by the Metropolitan Municipality’s mehter team and the 9th Corps Command Band were applauded by the audience. The program continued with a performance by the Erzurum Folk Dance team and concluded with a parade.
