The 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and the celebrations of October 29 Republic Day were celebrated with enthusiasm across the country, as in Denizli.
The celebrations, which began in the morning, included Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun receiving congratulations from the heads of institutions at his office. Following that, during the program continuing on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Boulevard, a moment of silence was observed and the National Anthem was sung, after which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Republic Day congratulatory message was read.
After the ceremony, Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun, who noted that citizens were celebrating the October 29 Republic Day at the podium, stated: “The Republic, which was declared by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on October 29, 1923, as the administration most suitable for the character and customs of the Turkish nation, began with his landing in Samsun on May 19, 1919, to initiate the National Struggle, is the greatest legacy left to the Turkish nation. The unwavering determination of the Turkish nation to sustain its Republic forever will guide us in overcoming all difficulties. It is our shared duty to protect our Republic, which Atatürk referred to as his greatest work, to work for the future of our country and nation, to struggle, and to make sacrifices when necessary. Working in unity and solidarity is our debt of gratitude to the martyrs and veterans who bestowed upon us this heavenly homeland. With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate with mercy and gratitude our esteemed martyrs and heroic veterans who risked their lives for their homeland, flag, and independence, especially the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades. I congratulate all our citizens on the October 29 Republic Day.”
The rifle drill performances and folk dance shows by the Akköy Gendarmerie Public Order Commando Battalion, which followed in the program, received great acclaim. The official parade at the end of the official celebration program was closely followed by a crowd that showed their affection for the procession composed of soldiers, non-governmental organizations, and students with their Turkish flags and applause.
