The 101st anniversary of the Republic Day on October 29 was celebrated with enthusiasm in Osmaneli, as it was across the country.
The Republic Day celebrations, held at the Osmaneli district stadium, began with the Osmaneli District Governor Yüksel Ünal and Mayor Bekir Torun celebrating the holiday with students and the public. After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Governor Yüksel Ünal gave a speech explaining the significance of the day.
Expressing the happiness and pride of reaching the 101st year of the Republic, Governor Ünal stated, “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, characterized this day as the greatest holiday on October 29, 1933, during the celebrations held on the tenth anniversary of the Republic. The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk looked to the horizons and said, ‘My humble body will eventually become dust, but the Republic of Turkey will stand forever.’ With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate with gratitude and mercy our Great Leader Atatürk, his comrades, and all our heroes who made this land our homeland. I congratulate your Republic Day and extend my respects to you all.”
After Governor Ünal’s speech, poems highlighting the significance of the day were recited at the ceremony. The Osmaneli Motorcyclists Association held a parade. Following folk dances and sports displays, the celebration program concluded with the awarding of prizes to students who ranked in the competitions organized by the District National Education Directorate in honor of Republic Day, following the official parade of the 101st year celebrations.
The Republic Day ceremonies at Osmaneli Stadium were attended by District Governor Yüksel Ünal, Mayor Bekir Torun, Public Prosecutor İlyas Öner, Police Chief Zafer Şenocak, Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant Mustafa Güzel, representatives of political parties, provincial council members, military officials, directors of public institutions and organizations, students, and citizens.
