Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Sındırgı Republic Square and on Ulus Mountain.
The celebrations for October 29 Republic Day began with a wreath laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument in Sındırgı Republic Square. After the wreath-laying ceremony, the celebrations continued with the Republic March held on Ulus Mountain.
Sındırgı Municipality, in collaboration with the District Youth and Sports Directorate, organized the “Republic Walk” in commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the Republic, where young people explored Ulus Mountain, the highest mountain in the region, under the guidance of Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak. At an altitude of 1764 meters and home to 33 endemic plant species, the Turkish Flag was waved on Ulus Mountain; Republic marches were sung throughout the walk, and participants experienced the enthusiasm of the Republic in nature. Protocol members, students, and citizens walked to the summit.
Accompanying the youth, who are the guarantee of our future, Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak stated, “Today, we climbed Ulus Mountain, the highest mountain in Sındırgı, to celebrate the 101st year of the Republic with our young people. The message we want to convey with the Republic Walk is very clear. We will continue to elevate the Republic, entrusted to us by Atatürk, together, to ensure it lives on forever and to work towards building a more beautiful future in his footsteps. We are the Republic, and the Republic is entrusted to the youth. On this occasion, I would like to thank everyone who participated in our Republic Walk event. I remember all our martyrs and veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with respect. Happy 101st anniversary of our Republic.”
District Governor Didem Dinç Özay emphasized the importance of the Republic by saying, “We are together in this meaningful event with the youth to whom we have entrusted the Republic. We are celebrating our Republic Day with the energy of our young people on Ulus Mountain, one of the beauties of our district. I wish all our citizens a happy October 29 Republic Day.”
Participants were treated to meatball sandwiches in the unique nature of Ulus Mountain.
The enthusiasm for the Republic at Atatürk Stadium
The official program, which began with the reception of congratulations at the District Governor’s office, continued at Sındırgı Atatürk Stadium.
The excitement of the 101st year of the Republic was experienced at Atatürk Stadium. Thousands of citizens joined in the enthusiasm at the event decorated with beautiful performances by students. District Governor Didem Dinç Özay and Sındırgı Mayor Serkan Sak celebrated the holiday with students and citizens. Awards were given to those who placed in competitions such as painting, poetry, composition, and athletics held throughout the district in commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. The official celebration program concluded with a parade.
