The 14th Antalya Book Fair, hosted by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, continues to attract great interest from the people of Antalya. At the Book Fair, Mayor Muhittin Böcek also meets with citizens, chatting and signing his book.

On its fourth day, the Antalya Book Fair continued to welcome visitors at the Cam Piramit Fair and Congress Center. The book fair, which brought together 271 authors and 225 national and international publishers with book lovers, is experiencing a surge in visitors. Under the theme “Being Human”, readers have the opportunity to meet their favorite authors while also having the chance to purchase plenty of books.

Great Interest in Mayor Böcek from Readers

On the fourth day of the Book Fair, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek met his readers for the first time this year. Mayor Böcek signed his first book “I Am in Love with This City” and his second book “Second Life: Politics and Betrayal”, receiving significant interest from the people of Antalya. Expressing his sadness for not being able to attend the opening ceremony of the Antalya Book Fair because he represented Turkey at the Cittaslow International Coordination Committee meeting in Rome, Mayor Muhittin Böcek said, “On my birthday, October 25, I was elected as the International Vice President of Cittaslow. But as soon as I returned from Rome, I am experiencing the joy of being together with book lovers and authors at the 14th Book Fair we are holding this year. We are holding the largest book fair in Turkey with the municipality’s efforts. We started this journey with the slogan ‘Reading is Necessary’ in a tent, and now we have come this far.”

“We Expect Over One Million Visitors”

Mayor Böcek emphasized their sadness over the recent occurrences of femicides and infant killings, stating, “These events have saddened all of us, and we opened this year’s fair with the slogan ‘Being Human’ as a lesson for some. The fair meets an ever-increasing readership every year, last year we had over one million visitors, and I hope we will exceed one million this year as well.”

“I Have Started Preparations for My Third Book”

Mayor Muhittin Böcek also surprised his readers by announcing that he has begun preparations to write his third book following his first book “I Am in Love with This City” and his second book “Second Life: Politics and Betrayal”. Mayor Böcek thanked the citizens and the authors participating in the fair for their participation.

On the fourth day of the 14th Antalya Book Fair, Fatih Tuncay, Zehra Ünüvar, Işık Öğütçü, and Nilüfer Gülerman signed books for their readers. The fourth day of the Book Fair saw especially intense interest from students. Students had the opportunity to visit the booths of publishing houses and obtain the books they needed.
