The state delegation led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Anıtkabir on the occasion of the 29 October Republic Day and the 101st anniversary of the declaration of the Republic.

After President Erdoğan took his position at the beginning of the Lion’s Path, the ceremony began, with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, members of the Presidential Cabinet, members of the Supreme Judiciary, Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, and force commanders also passing through the Lion’s Path to the mausoleum.

After President Erdoğan laid the wreath adorned with the star and crescent on Atatürk’s mausoleum, a moment of silence was observed and the National Anthem was sung.

Following this, Erdoğan and his accompanying delegation moved to the Misak-ı Milli Tower. President Erdoğan wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book:

“Dear Atatürk, today we are experiencing the rightful joy of reaching the 101st anniversary of our Republic, which is your greatest legacy entrusted to us and also a source of pride. On this day of pride, I congratulate the 29 October Republic Day of all our citizens living in our country and around the world, and all our compatriots whose hearts beat with us. On this occasion, I once again commemorate you, your comrades-in-arms, and our dear martyrs with gratitude.

In a period when the borders in our region are again attempted to be drawn with blood and tears as they were a century ago, we are taking all necessary measures to protect the survival of our homeland and the security of our nation. The spirit of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood that crowned the national struggle guides us in this process and illuminates our path like a beacon. The Republic of Turkey continues its magnificent journey, extending from the past to the future, under the leadership of competent and reliable personnel with a determination greater than ever before. May your soul rest in peace.”

After the state ceremony, Anıtkabir was opened to the public.
